This sample application shows how you can extract information from a layer.  In the example below you can choose a layer from the drop down box and the name, path, type, extent and record count will be displayed.  Along with each layer comes tabular data tied to the various features in the layer.  To explore the tabluar data check out the datgrid at the bottom of the page.
